There were 391832 military reports which have received the name «Iraq file», covering the period from January, 1st, till December, 31st, 2009. The USA accused the military man of reconnaissance division of the USA army Bradley Menning of information leakage.
The loudest exposure, of course, was connected with the USA. In conclusion of story about American’s secrets I’d like to tell you about leak of diplomatic telegrams of the USA. These documents contained critiques and praises about the host countries of various US embassies, political maneuvering regarding climate change, discussions and resolutions towards ending of ongoing tension in the Middle East, efforts and resistance towards nuclear disarmament, actions in the War on Terror; assessments of other threats around the world, relationships between various countries, US intelligence and counterintelligence efforts, and other diplomatic actions.
This information was about America, its wars and leak of diplomatic telegrams. And, of course, the fact of leaks could pose threat for the country safety.
Now I suggest to speak about punishment to Mister Julian Assange. The American politicians – both democrats and republicans – demand punishment to Assange. Most likely it will be the big prison term. But one of congressmen said «Any punishment, except the death penalty, will be too easy». At present measures are taken against Wikileaks and Julian Assange: the site was closed, credit cards blocked, etc. And, of course, all his accounts in different social services like Facebook and Twitter were blocked. It’s really a severe punishment for him, because as we know he is a hacker.
And still he has a lot of supporters, especially in Europe and native Australia. It was easy for him to collect 340 thousand dollars for pledge payment in court. But in the USA 68 % of respondents consider that Assange has harmed the interests of the USA and 59 % support his arrest and the decision to court. Only the youth at the age from 18 till 29 years was divided approximately fifty-fifty on the second question.
Despite the occurred events he has many awards. He won the Amnesty International UK Media Award (New Media) at 2009, his topic was about Kenya (in particular: Additional Judicial Murders and Disappearances) – Extra Judicial Killings and Disappearances. Accepting the award, Assange said, «It is a reflection of the courage and strength of Kenyan civil society that this injustice was documented.» In 2010 Assange was awarded the Sam Adams Award, Readers' Choice in Time magazine's Person of the Year poll, and runner-up for Person of the Year. An informal poll of editors at Postmedia Network named him the top newsmaker for the year. Le Monde named him the person of the year with fifty six percent of the votes in their online poll. In February 2011, it was announced that Assange had been awarded the Sydney Peace Medal by the Sydney Peace Foundation of the University of Sydney for his «exceptional courage and initiative in pursuit of human rights.»
Now Julian Assange is under arrest in London on the basis of the international warrant on the arrest, given out by Sweden.
